Qualitymanagement
Even a medical practice can improve, and we’re no exception.
In spring 2007, we introduced quality management to the standards specified by the German National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV). These standards consist of a commercial system (ISO 9001) modified to suit the circumstances and issues faced by a medical practice. The system is called QEP, short for “Quality and Development in Medical Practice” (German: “Qualität und Entwicklung in Praxen”).
We received our initial certification in April 2009. This meant we were one of the first 10 practices in Hamburg to be certified.
Our certification expired in March 2012. Although we do not plan to re-certify – since the effort and costs do not match the expected benefit from certification – our QM system is nonetheless still very much a part of our work. We actively maintain this system and our treatment pathways, workflows, etc. are continuously updated even without certification.
