In our practice we perform ultrasound examination of the abdomen and lower abdomen, in addition to specialised examinations of the sphincter apparatus and rectum. We apply the procedure to issues of sphincter weakness and perianal fistulas, as well as unclear tumours of the anus and rectum. Often, this enables us to make a precise diagnosis without recourse to further instrument-based diagnosis.

An abdominal ultrasound is also an important part of post-operative cancer care. If the source of pain is not clear, an abdominal ultrasound should always be performed before using more invasive methods.

Unfortunately the proceeds paid by the "Kassenärztliche Vereinigung" for ultrasound diagnostics is too small to financiate the device and doctors work. Thus we returned this special permit, so we ask for private payment concerning ultrasound activities.
To do so, we use a compact, modern ultrasound unit made by Siemens. The unit is a colour Doppler machine with multi-frequency ultrasound probes.
